On Sunday Felix Stevenson spoke on Matthew 6:25-34 on How to be a non anxious presence in an anxious world. Jesus speaks to our heads, hearts and hands when He tells us not to be anxious.

 

How to flourish when Christianity seems so restrictive

 

On Sunday David Bennett spoke on how we can flourish by not ascending in our own strength but by descending - ie denying ourselves, taking up our cross and following Jesus.

God At Work

In November in our Connect Groups and at church we explore what it means to rediscover the meaning of work in the light of what the Bible teaches as we continue to look to be whole-life disciples.

Sarah Seabrook spoke on Matthew 7:21-29 and how God's work in us together with our participation can help establish a stronger foundation for life.

TALK 4: LIFE GIVEN

On Sunday Ed Veale spoke on 1 John 5:11-21 on the friendship Jesus offers us and the promise of eternal life as the Spirit gives new birth and the Son gives new life.

 

TALK 2: LIFE PROMISED

On Sunday Felix Stevenson spoke on 1 John 2:18-27 and how we should receive the truth and remain in Jesus.

On Sunday evening Rory Heaton spoke on 1 John 2:18-27 and the assurances we have that Jesus is the truth, that we belong to Jesus and that Jesus remains in us.


TALK 1: LIFE APPEARED

On Sunday we began a new series in 1 John called ‘Life’. Josh Moxon spoke about how Jesus connects us and how Jesus assures us that our connection to Him can’t be lost.

WEEK 4: ENJOY LIFE

On Sunday Jago Wynne spoke on Deuteronomy 31:6-8 on how we can be people of courage and contentment in life since God holds fast to us. We also had a focus on giving to the work of HTC.

 

WEEK 2: THE LORD OF LIFE

On Sunday Jago Wynne spoke on Deuteronomy 6:4-5 on keeping God central in our lives and what things in life can stop us from making Him central.

 

Not Ashamed

Talk 7: How to finish the race well

On Sunday Jago spoke on 2 Timothy 4 on finishing well as a follower of Jesus and what we should believe in order to do this.

 

Talk 6: Equipped to endure

On Sunday Zim Okoli spoke on 2 Timothy 3:10-17 on how God equips us to endure persecution as Christians, looking at examples from other godly individuals. We also looked at the sufficiency of scripture.

 

talk 5: The risk of spiritual ill-health

On Sunday Ed Veale spoke on 2 Timothy 2:14-3:9 on the risk of spiritual ill health, its remedy and our response to it.

 

TALK 3: Pass on the gospel

On Sunday Josh Moxon spoke on 2 Timothy 2:1-7 on how we should pass on the gospel and how we need to accept the cost, using 3 metaphors: a soldier, an athlete and a farmer.

 

Talk 1: Leaders on Fire

On Sunday Felix Stevenson started a new series on 2 Timothy entitled "Not Ashamed". Felix spoke on 2 Timothy 1:1-7 on running the race of the Christian faith and how 'Spiritually on fire is what to desire'.

 

Coronation Sunday

 

On Coronation Sunday on the day after King Charles III was crowned, Jago Wynne spoke on Matthew 21:1-11 on how Jesus is a king who serves and a king who sacrifices himself for us and asks how we will respond to this

 

The Great Commission

On Sunday Ed Veale spoke on Matthew 28:16-20 on the Great Commission with a focus on teaching others. We thought about our place in Jesus' story and how we are partners in His mission.

 

 

On Sunday Tim Jones spoke on Matthew 28:19-20 as we began a new series on the Great Commission. Tim spoke on the phrase "therefore go and make disciples" with an emphasis on telling, teaching and tending.

 

Lamentations

On Sunday morning Jamie Mulvaney spoke on Lamentations 4 and 5 on the hope we have in Jesus and how revival is possible from what we learn in Lamentations. For more details on God's message through the prophet Jeremiah which Jamie refers to, watch here.

On Sunday evening Josh Moxon spoke on Lamentations 4 and 5 on how the cross turns the tables on our sin and the hope we have when we turn to Jesus.


Finding ourselves in the darkness

In the first part of our series on Lamentations, Felix Stevenson spoke on the subject of ‘Finding ourselves in the darkness’ from Lamentations 1&2. Felix highlighted how sin is worse than you think but God is better than you know.

On Sunday evening Jamie Mulvaney spoke on Lamentations 1&2: Finding ourselves in the darkness. Jamie spoke on how God may be silent, but He is not absent, how God is righteous which means hope, and how God has suffered even more than our own suffering.

 

You are Loved

 

In the 3rd part of our 'You are Loved' sermon series, Jago Wynne spoke on Romans 8:28-39, focusing on how much we are loved by God. Jago spoke about how God's love is perfect and how God's love is permanent.


 

On Sunday, Jago Wynne spoke on Romans 1: 1-7 and considered whether the phrase “You are Loved’ is trite or transformative. Jago spoke on how our identity should be defined not by our success or failure but as people loved by God.


AMAZING GRACE 250

THE GOD WHO TRANSFORMS US

In the final part of our two-part series celebrating the 250th anniversary of John Newton's hymn 'Amazing Grace', Ed Veale spoke on 2 Chronicles 3:18 and how, at the start of a new year, we can become more like Christ by beholding Him.

FOOD FOR THE SOUL

A MEAL OF PROMISE

Jesus appears to the Disciples after His resurrection, shares a meal with them and promises them the Holy Spirit. Jesus’ resurrection is also the promise of our own resurrection.

Passage: Luke 24:36-43

On Sunday morning Tim Jones spoke on Luke 24:36-43 on how Jesus appears to His disciples and shares a meal with them. Tim spoke on how Jesus' resurrection has been promised prophetically, preached in power and publicly proven, and now Jesus' resurrection means the promise of our resurrection.

On Sunday evening Josh Moxon spoke on Luke 24:36-43 on a meal of promise. As Jesus appeared to His disciples and shared a meal with them, He gave them the promise of peace, the promise of His presence and the promise of power in their lives. The same promises extend to us as Jesus' disciples.


A MEAL OF SALVATION

Jesus eats the Last Supper with His disciples in a meal that points forward to Jesus’ death and sacrifice on the cross. Jesus invites us all to share in this meal with Him.

Passage: Luke 22:7-38

On Sunday morning we continued our series on Food for the Soul, this week looking at A Meal of Salvation. Jamie Mulvaney spoke from Luke 22:7-38 on the Last Supper, how it is a foretaste of the heavenly banquet to which everyone is invited, how we might experience and ‘live’ the Lord’s Supper today with Jesus fulfilling our hunger for our deepest needs and desires.

On Sunday evening Anthony Buck spoke on Luke 22:7-38 on A Meal of Salvation. As Anthony looked at the Last Supper, he spoke on how Jesus wants to share a meal with us; how Jesus longs to share His kingdom with us and through us; and Jesus longs to share this meal of salvation with us tonight.


A meal of mission

Jesus heals a man with dropsy while at a Pharisee’s house and then challenges the Pharisees on taking the highest place for themselves. Jesus tells them the parable of the great banquet and how everyone is invited to the feast. How will each of us respond?

Passage: Luke 14:1-24

On Sunday morning Sarah Seabrook spoke on Luke 14:1-24 about the Parable of the Great Banquet. Sarah spoke about practical ways we can invite others to share a meal and be part of God’s banquet.

On Sunday evening Felix Stevenson spoke on Luke 14:1-24 on the parable of the Great Banquet as part of our series on Food for the Soul. Felix gave 4 character portraits of people who were at the meal with Jesus and how, to come through the narrow door, we need to look not to ourselves but to Jesus.


A meal of integrity

Jesus eats a meal with the Pharisees and challenges them on what it means to be truly clean. Jesus is the only one who can make us clean from the inside, not any rules or regulations that we observe or through human effort.

A VISION FOR JOY


GRACE IS FOR EVERYONE

The concept of grace is a totally foreign concept to our world, yet God offers this free gift to everyone. In the third part of our series, Reema Shinhmar speaks on 'Grace is for Everyone' and how in Ephesians 2:1-10 we see how God’s grace is known in the life giving work of Jesus.
