Day 5: Mary

| Advent 2017

And Mary said, "behold, I am the servant of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word." (Luke 1:38)

Mary is an amazing example to us. I find Mary utterly inspiring, because of how she responded to the call of God on her life. The design and plan for her life was hardly convenient, to say the least. Yet she knew her life wasn't hers to plan. And God would take her little life and do something far greater than she or anyone had ever imagined. She was willing to forgo comfort for the calling God had on her life.

In one sentence she does three things:

1. Says she is willing to serve
2. Recognises that she has a Lord over her life
3. Brings herself into alignment with the word of God

Paul McCartney and The Beatles were right. ‘Let it be’ really are words of wisdom.

When we pray such a bold prayer, we can expect God to use us in all sorts of wonderful ways.
